Grading is one of the most commonly used features in PARS. You can have grades that write back to SIMS or others that are PARS-only. It is also possible for teachers to create their own markbooks for their own personal use. Each of the grading features is described in brief below, with a link to a wiki page that goes into more detail about each feature. Each link that you can click is coloured and emboldened like this (you can't click on this one).

You can enter grades using the grade entry screen, which can be accessed via the main menu, a register or from your homepage. Follow the link for more information about entering grades.
Reviewing and reporting on grades
If you wish to a review a single pupil's grades, you can use grade preview. This shows only one pupil's grades at a time.
There are a number of grade reports available in PARS, which you can use to view grading data at your school.
You can also create custom grading reports which allow you to choose exactly what data you want to see. You can also include personal details, such as SEN, EAL or Pupil premium.
Checking staff's grades
The grade authorisation feature allows you to view multiple pupils' grades at once, and send messages to staff if you are not satisfied with the grades they have entered.
Printing and uploading reports for parents
The review periods page is used to generate reports, usually to send home to parents. These reports will need to be designed for you (our programmers will do this free of charge) and then imported into PARS via the review designer (see configuration, below).
Importing and exporting grades
The import/export grades feature allows you to either import grades via a .csv file or export existing grades to Excel.
Configuring grade schemes (grade sets)
You may need to configure grade schemes before configuring other areas of the grading system. This is not necessary if you are linking SIMS Assessment Manager aspects to PARS.
A grade scheme is the equivalent of a Grade Set in SIMS - it is a list of grades that can be used by staff i.e. A*, A, B, C, etc.
Configuring grade elements (aspects)
Grade elements are the equivalent of Aspects in SIMS Assessment manager. Go to the configure grading elements page for instructions and more information.
If you are copying your SIMS aspects into PARS, then you should use the bulk add SIMS elements tool.
Managing the comment bank
You can configure a comment bank so that staff can select from pre-defined comments when entering grades. Comments can include mail merge fields for a personal touch.
Creating templates for grading analysis
If you wish to do a grade analysis through PARS Connect, then you will need to configure key indicators once your elements have been create (see above).
Importing templates for parental reports
We will produce bespoke reports for you, which can be generated and sent home to parents. If you have received a template from us, go to the review designer page to import the design into PARS.
The customised reports page shows examples of reports that we have produced for other schools.
To request a customised report, please contact our Online Helpdesk.
