Forums can be created in Insight for parents to use. Threads are created by staff or admin at the school. Parents are allowed to post replies to these threads. For more information about creating forums, see the [[manage forums]] page. <br> <br>
  
To add a forum, click on the "Add" button.

To edit an existing forum, select the forum from the list and click the "Edit" button.
 
  
A forum will need a title and a description.  You can set a forum visibility to OFF which hides it and all related posts completely, but obviously for a new forum you would want this ON, you can select this by checking the 'Visible' box.  Similarly a locked forum can be viewed but not added to, so this should be OFF for new forums; again you can select this by checking the 'Locked' box. 
 
  
Only non-administrative users can add topics to a forum, by adding a new post to the forum.
 
 
If you are an admin user and you need to start a topic, you will need to create an ad-hoc non-administrative user for this purpose.
