From the left hand menu of Insight, select "Manage" -> "User-defined pages"

Click on the "Add" button to add a new user defined page.

The types of pages which can be added are:

*RSS reader page - this provides feeds from websites and blogs. In the location field, enter the URL to the RSS feed.

*Document page - this allows files saved ''on the web server'' to be viewed by the users. In the location field, input the file location and name. If changes are made to the document then the next time the user opens that document they will see the changes so there is no need to upload the file again.  Alternatively you can browse your computer or network for a file and upload this to the web server using the "Browse" button.

*Linked document page - this allows you to link documents in from SIMS.  To do this add a 'description' and enter information in the 'summary contains' field from the summary field within SIMS->Linked Documents -> Open a document -> Summary field. The information for the 'Icon name' will be the default, date_scroll_icon, or will have to be setup previously in the related ini.personalisation file.

User-defined pages allow you to create your own content for parents. The following different types of page are available:

  • RSS reader page
This will read and display the most recent items from another webpage, such as BBC News.
  • Document page
This allows you to display a fixed document, such as Word or Pdf, for parents to view and download.
  • Linked documents page
Documents can be picked up from SIMS, and then displayed via this page.
  • Web page
Other webpages can be embedded into Insight, such as your payment system for school dinners.
