Assistance requests (sometimes called emergency alerts) are messages which are sent instantly to a group of staff who will then action the request, usually by sending an on-call staff member to help out. The group of recipients must be configured in advance, so that when a member of staff needs assistance they do not have to select who the recipients are; they only need to click twice to send an assistance request.
The group of recipients is configured in the group manager page. Once the group has been configured, staff can use assistance requests whenever needed.
How to send an assistance request
There is a button in the quick launch bar that is used to send assistance requests (sometimes called emergency alerts). These are messages which are sent instantly to a group of staff who will then action the request, usually by sending an on-call staff member to help out.
The assistance request button is the exclamation mark in the triangle.
After you click the assistance request button, a window will open where you can enter any details about why you need help. Useful information to enter would be the room you are in and how many staff are needed to deal with the situation, though if you do not have time to do this, you can simply click the "Accept" button.
If you press the assistance request button while you have your register open, the assistance request message will also include the class, room and subject you are currently teaching. This makes it easier for the recipients to find you in the school and send help as quickly as possible.
The recipient's message
All of the recipients in the assistance request group will receive the same message at the same time, so somebody should be able to help even if some staff are not at their computers. The message received looks like this:
