The register selection screen showing the AM session register on its own and the PM session register mapped to period 5

There are two sessions in the school day, AM and PM. By law, schools are required to record an attendance mark in each session of the day for every school-aged pupil.

Session marks can be recorded in separate tutor period in the morning and afternoon, they can also be recorded during a mapped lesson period. Session registers are displayed in PARS with a red register symbol.

The time when the AM session stops and the PM session starts is called the "AM/PM cutoff time" and should be set to ensure that mapped lesson marks are written to the correct session.

To set the AM/PM cutoff time:

If you want to alter the time when session registers take place, the Registration times section of the Registration preferences menu is where you can do this.
