There are pupils with no name on menus, registers, etc.

These are pupils who were expected to attend the school this year and had timetables etc. configured. They subsequently have not been admitted but have group memberships left in the database. To resolve this, log in to SIMS and go to:

Tools > Validate memberships

How do I view or update medical information?

Medical information can only be recorded or edited in SIMS, but can be viewed in PARS. there is a permission that decides whether or not you are allowed to view medical information via PARS. From the list of permissions, look under the PARS section for a permission called "Access medical information" - this needs to be switched on in order for users to see medical details.

How can I highlight pupils in registers with SEN

Any group of pupils (whether it be a form group, group of SEN pupils or user-defined group) can be given a highlight symbol. This symbol will appear after the pupils' names in reports and registers, so that staff know there is information to be had about these pupils.

Highlight symbols can be configured via the group manager page. Please note if teachers have their registers on the board in front of their class, then certain highlight symbols may be obvious to other pupils e.g. pupils will quickly work out that "F" is for free school meals. To avoid this, we recommend using the letter "i" as a highlight symbol (to show more information is available) for any groups whose details are sensitive and should not be shared with other pupils.

Staff can access this information when they are not showing their laptop screen to the class for privacy, by clicking the i button to access the pupil information window.

How do we show pupils' preferred names instead of legal names? (or vice versa)

Go to:
PARS main menu > System management > Preferences

Under the General section, there is a preference called "Use chosen name in place of legal name". Turn this on or off as needed.
