This text will be displayed as the header for Insight. If this is left blank then the school name, head teachers name, main site address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address will be picked up from SIMS and displayed. You can use the blue HTML button icon the right of the tool bar to make more complicated changes than the other tool bar buttons would allow. If you are leaving this empty to show the default banner, you can remove the

If your mail server requires authentication to send emails, enter the username here.
  • Password used to authorise against the SMTP Server

  • Your Reply To email address
This is the address from which emails sent from Insight will appear to have originated. Additionally, when users reply to emails sent from INSIGHT then this is the email address that will be used. If the account is not monitored, it would be wise do use an address similar to donotreply@school-name.auth.sch.uk.
  • Optional display name for sender
Rather than showing the senders email address, you can also enter a fixed originator to help recipients identify you more easily.

  • Message to send when a username changes as a result of an email address change
When changing an email address, the email-like user name of the user is not automatically altered. This is done using the Match operation on the Users page. This preference is the email message. You can use the merge fields {oldemail} and {newemail} in this message.
  • Redirect all "contact" emails to this address
When a user contacts a staff member within Insight, an email is sent to the staff member's address, although the user will not see the address themselves. If an email address is entered here, ALL inbound contact email addresses will instead be redirected to that account instead.
  • Text to display in the forgotten password box
Leave empty for the default, or a single space to clear any text.
  • Address to send forgotten password requests to when the user has no email of their own
If a user has an email address against their account, forgotten passwords can be mailed directly to them. For those users who do not (and either have no mobile number stored, or where no provision has been made for sending SMS messages), a message is instead send to this address informing the recipient that a certain user will need to be re-informed of their password.

  • Send emails to these addresses when an absence is reported
  • Send emails to these addresses when an address change is requested
  • Send emails to these addresses when a telephone number change is requested
  • Send emails to these addresses when an email address change is requested
  • Send emails to these addresses when a forum post is reported
  • Send emails to these addresses when a SIMS synchronisation might be needed
Emails will only be sent if the Keep Alive service is running.
