Extra classes can be set up in PARS to cover activities not normally timetabled e.g. after school clubs.
The process of creating and managing extra classes within PARS is as follows:
- Decide on and configure timeslots that will be used to create registers.
- An example timeslot would be called "After school astronomy club", taking place from 21:00 to 22:00 every Friday, requiring parental consent and being held in Science Room 1 with Mr.Moore.
- Create a register by adding pupils to the timeslot for a particular day
- Adding pupils to a timeslot creates a register for that slot. If the register occurs at the same time or just after an existing register, the pupil will have a symbol on their normal register. If a pupil is added to an extra class by mistake, they can be removed from it easily.
- Obtain parental consent if required
- If the class occurs at a time when parental consent is required, this can be dealt with in PARS by using the parental consent Slip designer. This will automatically generate consent forms/slips to be sent home and returned. The responses to these slips can be recorded in PARS for future reference.
- Take the register for the extra class
- When the extra class takes place, open the register and mark each pupil's attendance or absence.
